Commack is located on the north shore of Long Island, occupying 12 square miles of land in Suffolk County. The community is divided between the Town of Huntington to the west and the Town of Smithtown to the east. As of the 2010 census, Commack, a mostly suburban neighborhood, with a population of 36,124, does not offer a walkable downtown or main street. Shopping, dining and other commercial properties can be found mainly along Commack Road, Jericho Turnpike, and Route 454, commonly known as Veterans Memorial Highway.
Commack’s central location on Long Island offers easy access to the Long Island Expressway, the Northern State Parkway, the Sunken Meadow State Parkway and Jericho Turnpike.
Commack’s neighboring communities include East Northport, Elwood, Dix Hills, Kings Park, Hauppauge, and Smithtown.
