LIBN – 2026 LONG ISLAND BUSINESS INFLUENCER: RALPH PERNA

Edit

Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker

Schacker Realty

When Ralph Perna entered the industrial real estate market in 1975, it was a much different landscape. The Hauppauge Industrial Park, as it was then called, had an antenna farm on Motor Parkway. Today, the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge is the largest industrial park on the East Coast, and the second largest in the country. Perna was involved with many of the developments along Commerce Drive, Adams Ave. and Wireless Blvd. during the “Roaring 80s.” In 1984, Perna became the first industrial real estate broker to have his own computer, as a senior vice president at D’Angelo Forrest.

Today, Perna is a licensed associate broker at Schacker Realty in Melville. Prior to joining Schacker, he was executive managing director at Newmark’s Long Island office, where he spent 20 years. Prior to that, he was a partner at Island Realty, which he and Jack O’Connor sold to Grubb & Ellis in 1999.

Over his career, Perna has successfully marketed office and industrial properties for owners and investors. As an integral component of this business, he has effectively accommodated the space requirements of a variety of tenants/users and developed an extensive database of buyers interested in the local market. His expertise ranges from marketing techniques and finance structuring to municipal liaison services and environmental impact evaluation.

LIBN recognized Perna as Industrial Broker of the Year in 2015, 2017 and 2018; Top Industrial Sale for 2018; Top Office Lease for 2015; and Top Industrial Sale for 2013 and 2015. He was also Newmark’s Industrial Broker of the Year in 2005 and 2006.
