The Town of Oyster Bay is one of three towns in Nassau County. Located in the eastern portion of the county, the town extends from the North Shore to the South Shore of Long Island and encompasses a total area of 169.4 miles. The Town of North Hempstead is located to the northwest, the Town of Hempstead is located to the southwest and to the east is Suffolk County.

The Town of Oyster Bay is comprised of 19 villages including Amityville, Farmingdale, Massapequa Park, and Westbury. Also within the Town of Oyster Bay are 17 hamlets. Among them are Bethpage, Hicksville, Jericho, Massapequa, Oyster Bay, Plainview, Syosset and Woodbury. Approximately 293,000 people reside within the Town of Oyster Bay, as of the 2010 census.

Public transportation in the town includes the Nassau Inter-County Express Bus and the Long Island Rail Road. Major roads include the Long Island Expressway, the Northern State Parkway, the Southern State Parkway, Bethpage State Parkway, Ocean Parkway, Route 135, Route 25, and Route 27.

Many businesses have their corporate offices in the Town of Oyster Bay, among them Cablevision Systems and King Kullen in Bethpage. The New York Institute of Technology, SUNY Old Westbury, Long Island University are all located in the Town of Oyster Bay.

The Town of Oyster Bay offers many recreational areas and places of interest including the Planting Fields Arboretum, Bethpage State Park, Cold Spring Harbor Aquarium, Garvies Point Museum, Old Bethpage Village Restoration, and Sagamore Hill, the home of Theodore Roosevelt.
